Don't Quit on a Bad Day

Stressed for whatever reason? Feel like you can't keep up with anything? Just keep saying "Quit tomorrow, but not today"

This isn't a typical "never-give-up" type of message or blog...(well maybe a little actually)

“Sometimes we're tested not to show our weaknesses, but to discover our strengths”

Quit Tomorrow

Some of you guys may already know that I plan to pursue engineering. Over this summer, I joined a coding program to gain experience. At first, I was happy and excited. I always learned basic coding through free resources online, so this was the first time I was going to get real advice from professionals in the engineering industry. By the second day, I was already frustrated. But of course, I didn't let some errors of my first code let me down. I continued to learn and code. But I made very little progress. Even as I write this blog, I'm pretty frustrated at the thought of not being able to improve my coding skills. It's been over a week and I'm not even halfway done with my project. There's no denying that frustration will make you feel like giving up. As you guys know, I've always talked about not giving up, staying patient, blah blah. But that motivation was gone. Just yesterday, I was considering giving up the program. I was as close to giving up as pressing the send button of my email to the program instructors. BUT I didn't. I didn't want to quit on a bad day because I knew that I was going to regret it. "Quit tomorrow" is what I said. I was frustrated at the moment, so I knew why it was so quick and easy to give up. By saying "quit tomorrow", I was able to get back on my feet and grind.

Now let's talk about you! How are you feeling right now? Were you like me? or are you just following up with the blogs? It doesn't matter, but my point is don't quit on a bad day. As human beings, it's natural to feel angry, emotional, and frustrated. These feelings often lead us to make decisions we end up regretting in the far future. Let me ask you, how do you feel when you let go of something that is hard vs. overcoming something that is hard?

Some may say that letting go of something that's a burden is better because it relieves you of stress. True, but trust me, it's nothing compared to that rewarding feeling you feel for overcoming a setback or challenge. It makes you not only stronger, but it feels great. Success feels REALLY great. Even saying that would be an understatement. SO really, I want you to push yourself, commit to whatever you're doing, and keep reminding yourselves to "quit tomorrow". It's okay to modify your plan for whatever you want to achieve, but don't ever change your goal.
